Wimbledon 2008 - Federer VS Hewitt Result - Day 7

Roger Federer came out on top when he defeated Lleyton Hewitt 7-6 6-2 6-4 in the battle of the Wimbledon champions. Federer is now through to the quarterfinals.

Lleyton Hewitt, from Australia, kept the five-times Wimbledon Tennis champion Federer on his toes during a competitive first set.

Once Federer had earned the tiebreak 9-7 with a 195 kph lightning-speed ace, he ran Hewitt ragged on a sun-drenched Centre Court. Federer has won 63 consecutive matches on grass.

Federer will now face either Croatia’s Mario Ancic, who was the last man to beat the world number one on grass in the first round here in 2002, or the left-hander Fernando Verdasco from Spain

Federer to Play Hewitt for Place in Quarter’s

World number one, Roger Federer is set to play Australian Leyton Hewitt on Sunday for a spot in Wimbledon 2008’s quarterfinals.

Federer beat France’s Marc Giquel 6-3 6-3 6-1 on friday, while Hewitt thrashed Bolelli, from Italy 6-1 6-3 7-6. Hewitt, the last man to win Wimbledon Title (in 2002) before Federer, has lost to Federer 11 times in a row since 2003.
