Favourable Federer Fading Fast
Roger Federer’s confidence is fading fast. Let me rephrase that- The whole world’s confidence in Federer is fading fast. Why? What has happened to the five-time Wimbledon mens Champion over the past few months? Why is everyone doubting Roger Federer? What does Roger Federer think about all this?
Roger Federer is a great guy, a fabulous tennis player and a machine on the Wimbledon Centre Court- but why has his confidence fallen the past couple of months. When one stands in front of achieving a tremendous record people always doubt themselves. Federer can definitely win Wimbledon 2008. He has won Wimbledon the past five years in a row and he can definitely do it on the 6 July 2008.
The Question is- Do we want Federer to Win Wimbledon 2008?
Federer was embarrassed at the French Open. Wimbledon 2008 will be Federer’s turn to do the humiliating. Wimbledon is Federer’s jungle and Centre Court is his feeding ground- and if anyone can win Wimbledon 2008, the World number one can.
Bjorn Borg begs to differ:
“I pick Rafael Nadal as winner and my second choice is Novak Djokovic, my third is Roger,” Borg said on Thursday.
“For (Roger) to beat those guys at Wimbledon 2008, he needs to play much better than he did last summer. He knows he will have to play some unbelievable tennis to win again.”
Federer has only one 2 titles this year, having suffered from glandular fever in January 2008 at the Australian Open, the Swiss legend will craving his first Grand Slam of the year. One of the Two victories was at Halle, where Federer extended his unbeaten record on grass to 59 matches. Who’s doubting him to win Wimbledon 2008?
Seven-times Wimbledon Champion Pete Sampras belives in Roger Federer.
“He’s still the guy most likely to win the majors. He’s lost a couple but if anything that’ll do him some good, it’ll get him fired up,” said Sampras.
“As great as Roger is he’s going to have his losses and his bad days, it’s just human nature to go through some lulls.”
If Federer can find his way to holding the Wimbledon 2008 trophy, then he will become the 1st man in the modern Wimbledon era to win 6 successive Wimbledon titles in a row. Sampras holds the record for the most number of Grand Slam Titles, 14, and Federer is currently on 12.
Just seven days after winning at Roland Garros, Rafael Nadal became the first player in 35 years to win at Paris and at Queen’s. Nadal said, “I think I am playing well and if I continue to play like this, I am going to have chances to have a good result at Wimbledon,”
