Roddick Outplays and Outlasts Schwank
Andy Roddick managed to outlast Wimbledon Debutant Eduardo Schwank 7-5 6-4 7-6.
Schwank, who has played only three matches on grass (including this one) often out-played twice runner up Roddick.
“I actually hit the ball probably better than the score indicates,” Roddick told a news conference.
“It seemed like every game I was at, I was 30 on his serve and kind of cruising on mine and he would come up with something creative a lot of the times.”
It was experience at the end of the day that set theses two players apart. Schwank played some amazing shotsbut it was Roddick who managed to break serve late to take the 1st two sets.
“I personally don’t care,” Roddick said when asked about the fashion at Wimbledon 2008. “But, you know, I think any attention drawn to tennis for whatever reason is good.”
“If that means wearing the Mr Roger sweater, whatever else you got, then so be it. I don’t know if it would be a good look for me or any of my friends or relatives.”
Andy Roddick will face Janko Tipsarevic in the next Wimbledon 2008 round.
Roddick and Tipsarevic have met before in Wimbledon two years ago and Roddick come out victorius- but things have changed from then: The serb made it to the fourth round last year.
“He just hits a pure ball,” Roddick said of the Serb’s threat. “He’s able to kind of attack off of both sides. Doesn’t really play himself out of point. Has some pretty cool tattoos.
“No, I mean, he actually serves pretty big for someone who is not super tall. If he’s playing well, that’s a lot to deal with”….
