Andy Murray gives ‘Thumbs Up’ For Wimbledon 2008

Andy Murray looks all set for Wimbledon 2008. Murray had to miss his quarterfinal match against Andy Roddick at the Queen’s Club last week, when a sudden thumb Injury came up. There was great concern that Murray might not have been able to make Wimbledon2008, which would have been the second year in a row, but all seems to be on track, let’s hope.

Murray played his first match, since the Artois Championships, at Boodles Challenge and showed the spectators exactle what they were looking for. He bet Janko Tipsarevic, from Serbia 6-3 5-7 12-10.

Murray needed his thumb massaged at the Queen’s Club, while playing against Andy Roddick- and claimed it was a liitle embarrassing.

Murray said: “I felt good and it was a very interesting match. I had not hit a ball for a few days. I enjoyed it out there and managed to play some good tennis in a very competitive match.

“I have struggled a little bit with my movement on the grass this year. I don’t know if it’s my shoes and it is tough when you keep falling over on the court. I will try and sort it before Wimbledon.

“I saw the replays of my thumb massage and it looked a little bit pathetic. There were a few times that I mis-hit the ball that I felt it, but I was able to play for an hour and a half out there and it felt OK.”

Andy Murray can’t wait to set his foot on the beautiful Centre Court at The All England Club next week, and let’s hope he can reinvent the Henman fever. Every Brit will be holding ‘thumbs’, excuse the pun, for Murray-the last time a Brit won Wimbledon was in 1936.

Murray joked: “It is quite nice to play with no expectation on your shoulders and the lack of pressure on you! The support you get playing on Centre Court is unbelievable in front of 14,000 people. That is what I look forward to the most.”
